This pair of lions graced the entrance stairs of the William Decker mansion in the Borough of Montgomery, Lycoming County PA. The mansion was built 1908-1910 for William Decker (1861-1924), a self made businessman and owner of Montgomery Table Works, the largest enterprise in Montgomery and the most prominent and influential citizen there.
Solid slabs of Pennsylvania bluestone were shipped to the mansion site and the lions were carved in situ by an Italian stone carver who produced other carved elements for the mansion.
